Jonte, Pzarn & Quaid Hardingham – What is it like to be a kid with Aspergers?
We will be talking to you about what it is like to be a kid with Asperger’s. Our family is cool as we have one kid with Autism, one with ADHD/Asperger’s, and a girl with Asperger’s. We have been through early intervention since we were very young and we go to an inclusive education school. We were one of the first families in our area to receive the Helping Children with Autism funding and gain access to resources. We will talk to you about how we see the world and what we can cope with, and what we can’t.
Quaid Hardingham – Bio
This is difficult for me to write as I do not like writing. This is often the case with Aspie kids. I am an 8 year old kid with ADHD/Asperger’s. I am going into grade 4 at school and I go to a school that let kids be different. I like maths and music. I have angry meltdowns.
Jonte Hardingham – Bio
I am an Asperger girl. We are a little different to boys with Asperger’s. I think differently to my friends, but I am also different to my brothers. I love ballet, it makes me feel pretty and it has lots of rules that are easy to follow. There are lots of foods that I don’t like to eat. They taste and feel funny in my mouth. I don’t really have meltdowns, but I do stim a lot (skipping, hanging of things, and spinning).
Pzarn Hardingham – Bio
I am a person with Autism and I am proud of it. I sometimes find thinking hard. Jonte is my twin sister although it may not look like it. I find reading people’s faces hard sometimes. I am very smart. How smart? Very Smart. I could read a newspaper in Prep, but I just learnt how to tie my shoelaces. I like going on rides at Wet n Wild, Aussie World, Movie World, and Sea World. I like playing the xBox. I have sad meltdowns.
